In 1992, her search was answered when she met Lee Lyon, a ceramicist recently turned glass artist. She began assisting Lee with the many facets of the hot shop. Soon they discovered the resin bonded sand mold process and her job and lifestyle was combined into a work-study program. During the summers she took glass-casting classes at Pilchuck Glass School and woodworking and painting courses at Anderson Ranch Arts Center. She then returned to Pilchuck as a teaching assistant in 1998 and was invited to co-teach with Lee Lyon in August 2000.

She enjoys traveling as part of her continuing art education. Not only does it give added perspective to her own work but has provided contacts for future collaborations. She has attended Glass Art Society conferences in Oakland, CA; Tampa, FL; and Seto, Japan.

Jacqueline is a physical artist as well as a visual artist. She has been studying Soo Bahk Do Moo Duk Kwan, a traditional Korean style martial art, for eight years. This study has probably been the greatest influence on her creative style. The idea of "connection", which is the root of Soo Bahk Do, has become a consistent theme in her work. This connection may be found in her choice of materials, the shapes of the components or simply in the way the elements fit together.

The Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art is currently displaying one of her sculptural pieces from a show at the Sherry Leedy Gallery.

Jacqueline and her husband, Dylan Balderson have constructed a combined hot glass and wood shop at their home in Carbondale, CO. This facility will enable Spiro Lyon Glass to nearly double its capacity.
